Alina Pryazhkina Rogers is a dedicated marine biologist whose deep love for animals and the ocean has shaped her career. “I don’t think I can ever live without the ocean and the animals that live in it,” says Alina, reflecting on her journey from volunteering with terrestrial wildlife to finding her true calling in marine biology. Her journey brought her to South Africa, where she first visited Hans Bay in 2013, and since then, she has felt a deep connection with the marine world. “This place just got my heart,” she recalls of her first visit.

Alina is directly involved in rehabilitating injured birds, ensuring they gain the strength needed to be returned to the wild. “We rehabilitate them, feed them, and help them regain their energy so they can get back to where they belong,” she says with pride..
Alina’s role also involves research on the “Marine Big Five” — whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, and the African penguin. The company emphasizes conservation by conducting whale-watching tours with strict regulations to ensure the animals are not disturbed. “When it comes to whale watching, we are assigned certain areas where we can go, and there are strict rules. We can’t approach them closer than 15 meters,” Alina explains. This ensures the safety and well-being of the animals while allowing guests to witness these majestic creatures up close.
